When Have You Had To Be Flexible?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2022

You think that you know from your mapping,
The “all” of the ride you are tapping.
It could be that you,
Change to something new.
Original mapping, now scrapping.

I’m just back from a bicycle trip with Bob.

Walker, MN is crossroad for
Paul Bunyan Trail and Heartland Trail.

Out of Walker, one can go
North, South, Northeast, West.
That gave us four different “loop”/out-and-back rides.

We did get reminders about being flexible.
Our turn-around-point,
Or expected mileage,
May be different than planned.

One day’s ride,
We got to a little town,
Bob got off his bike.
It was suddenly clear that he had
“Hit the Wall”…..
Completely out of energy.

To do?…..
Find a spot to sit and rest,
Drink water, eat snack from our stash,
Locate local food source, if possible.
Eat and sit a bit longer.

Scraping original plan for
Destination and miles to be ridden,
Obviously the smart choice.
Flexibility makes for safe ride
To fit the situation.

Fortunately our challenges are ones
With simple choices.
We are happy.

Hugs,
Lin
