What Recurrent Task Has Turned Into “Ritual”?
I start this task that’s habitual,
Simple, and even instinctual.
I note with surprise,
That here in disguise,
Is something that is now a Ritual.
What task has become a Ritual for you?
This was “Cut-Bob’s-Hair” morning.
It’s a task that has been in place for a LO-O-O-NG time.
First week of our marriage,
Barely settled into our one-room rental apartment,
Bob came home with a kit for cutting hair.
“We’ll save lots of money, with you cutting my hair”.
That had never, never even entered my mind,
As part of our marriage arrangement.
May I tell you that I was NOT pleased?
In those “olden day” times,
And my “wife” perception in those “olden days”,
I just started cutting Bob’s hair.
I figure I’ve done that for about
Fifty-nine of our nearly sixty-three years together.
Hmm— probably have saved money.
What started as such an obligation,
Has morphed into Ritual.
Bob likes the convenience and attention.
I like the well-kempt result.
Of course, no pressure anymore.
His hair is white and thinner.
Style is defined as “tidy”.
This Ritual is here to stay.
Hugs.
