Weekend Ride Cut Short

31 miles on Root River Trail

Monday, May 26, 2019

Hello My Friends,

Another ride day on Root River Trail,
Pedaled thirty-one miles together.
Longest this year!

Sunshine, mild temps, little wind,
Great!

Trail filled with Holiday weekend crowds,
Made some areas like entering a freeway
Only when light turned green.

Long strings of extended families biking.
Little kids who could zip along,
Other little kids simply overwhelmed with a bicycle.

Overall, satisfying for us to be riding.

Lunch at Pedal Pusher Cafe in Lanesboro,
Delicious food filled plates to edges.
We ate every delicious morsel!
Then got on bikes to ride to motel.

Riding posture,
Slightly forward bend, squashing tummy,
Compressing large lunch.

I ended up in Pain, real Pain.
Slowly pedaling last seven miles,

Groaning Loudly,
Stopping Often,
Not fun at all,
For last seven miles.

Once at motel,
Packed and loaded quickly as possible.
Drove back to Northfield.
Not the ending we had planned.

Good decision though.
Recouping at home is best if can be done.
This morning, I'm nearly back to health self.
Hooray!

We've had rain, lots,
Much of day.
I would have struggled to get myself
Outside to ride any Trail.

If I need to ride to that day's destination,
I'll ride in rain.
If riding isn't required,
Or is just for recreation,
I'll choose staying inside and dry.

The weekend outing was definitely worthwhile.
I did relearn about eating and biking.
Painful lesson, sharply in mind for now.
Glad to have taken trip.

Hugs to each of you,
Lin

Limerick:

If ever your food is so yummy
Give thought to your ride with full tummy.
Bent forward with squeeze,
Will surely not please.
It makes your full tummy, feel "crummy!"

Love the rolling pin Pie signage. Art in public places. You see the most fun things!

Thank you, Gail! I think back to all the artful gifts you made for our kids and the family—you have that way of seeing things!
