Wealth of Age
Wednesday, July 31, 2024
My travel turned into a treasure,
A time bringing wealth beyond measure.
The very best part,
Has filled up my heart.
Relationships—richness and pleasure.
Are you aware of your life’s wealth?
Home from a visit in Montana,
I am amazed as I think of how
Well all turned out.
I expected to
Enjoy and appreciate my trip.
It was Far “Richer”
Than I imagined.
Prompt for trip was
Wanting to visit
Beloved, longtime loved ones.
In Bozeman, Uncle Bill, 94 yrs,
My dad’s little brother,
Last of that family generation.
In Billings, Karin and retired doctor husband.
Karin, my friend since 7th grade,
Was my Maid-of-Honor 65 yrs ago
At Bob’s and my wedding.
I had those visits,
Plus expanded Bozeman opportunities.
My little sis, Jill, had come to town from their
Amazing, self-reliant mountain life.
Jill gathered daughters, plus 3 grands,
For various visits.
Visits that let us learn and
Love each connection.
Transportation, which I viewed as
Difficult-to-arrange,
Melted into Ease with
Daughters, Jill, even another Visitor at assisted-living
Providing rides for me.
Time in Billings, with Karin and Ron,
Revisited years of memories.
Even uncovered pieces
Never shared before.
(“I didn’t know that about your family!”)
Bill’s and my visits spanned
Decades I’ve known him,
And people from his family of
My Grama and Grandad and their ten kids.
Imagine the “Do you remember”
Topics we pulled up!
I am so grateful to have
Made the trip.
Aware that we are old,
Treasuring our connections.
Gifted with sharing caring time,
Start on getting to know next generation,
My trip-joy is brimming.
It fits words from Scott Bruce—
“Visit full of life’s true wealth: relationships.”
Indeed, true wealth.
Hugs,
Lin
