Unplanned Rest Day

Day 3 of Mankato to Madison Ride

A change that you'd name as frustrating,
Providing a shift that's creating
Drier, safer trip.
Temporary blip.
Your route to adventure awaiting.

How do you respond to change?

Northfield, MN  all day. No biking.
Because of wild, impending weather,
Our schedule was changed.

We spent day in Northfield AmericInn.
Funny to figure out—
Unscheduled rest day, this early in ride.

Clockwise from top left: Phlox in the rain, My home, unusual site on bike trip!
Are these elderberry blossoms? Gosling "daycare." So many little ones!

Time for reading, napping, snacking.
Laundry—laundry time is always welcome.
Not yet time to have to
Clean one's bike ...
Often a rest day activity.

I got a paperback from Northfield Public Lib,
Started reading, visited Bob.
Purchased and drank a peanut-butter milkshake.
(Hoping to pedal off those calories tomorrow.)

Nancy crocheting—
Using various colors, crocheted into rounds
Reminding me of Mandalas.
She is Creating—in addition to
Keeping track of all
People and travel aspects.

Rest Day activities: Nancy crocheting, Margaret sending emails

We appreciate being
Sheltered from storms.

Nancy and I spent 20 minutes
Hunkered in bathroom
During tornado threat…
Safest place to be in motel room!

I am a bit "antsy,”
Ready to ride tomorrow.

Those of you who know me personally,
Know that patience isn't
My strength or virtue.
I'm getting a chance to practice
Patience and Flexibility.

So far, so good.

Hugs,
Lin

I’m glad you had a safe, dry place during that terrific rainstorm and then such a beautiful day today. Keep going, you amazing woman! Shirley
