Tour de Wyoming 2017: Preparation

Friday, July 14th, 2017

On Sunday, 16th, Wyoming State bike ride begins!
I will be a rider, and the speaker first night out.

My five days at cabin above Centennial,
Elevation 8,500 ft have been challenge I'd not expected.
All is well, really.
Just that years past,
Acclimation to altitude happened fairly fast.

Different year,
Different experience.
I'm very aware of what's required
For my altitude-gaining bike rides.

Yesterday, riding to my end point, 9,700 ft.
Newly deliberate stops every 1.5 to 2 miles.
Shed some clothing layer,
Drink water,
Rest enough to slow heart.

Riding again,
I used new mantra:
"No race, My pace,
No race, My pace!"

Maybe a good reminder in other realms.

Sending love.
Please send your wishes for strength & wisdom.

Hugs,
Lin

Thanks for the reminder–I will need it! Being with 300-some riders brings that inevitable sense of competition. “No race, MY pace!” I’ll use it!

Amazing what you are doing, Lin!

Suzanne - July 16, 2017

You can do it! You can do it! Yes you can!
