Spending My Time Biking
Cannon Valley Trail: 40 miles
Saturday, June 15, 2019
Hello My Friends,
I am riding bicycle when weather matches schedule.
Yippee!
I am having fun.
Remember my goal of 1000 miles by end of Sept?
Works out to fifty miles per week.
I have completed week six ... ahead of week goal.
"Extra" miles are stockpiled on log sheet,
Intending to meet one thousand miles earlier.
I'll keep you posted.
BIG news here … Bob has new bicycle!
Decision required his immense "mental wrestling.”
New bicycle at eighty four years old ???
Former bike needed repair, plus tuning.
Never was quite right size,
Adding to fatigue on longer rides,
Depleting "Fun Factor.”
My encouragement:
"If bike that fits adds even one day of great biking,
Definitely worth buying!”
In my mind, “How many years of use?”
Totally irrelevant!
Privileged to be able to make improvement,
Enhances each bike time.
Yesterday, Cannon Trail new bike inauguration.
Forty-mile ride proved the happy point.
Though both of us tired,
Bodies not in pain.
I was Fried!
Yes, absolutely fried, and not in pain.
Got back to car after forty miles,
Very tired, me initially thinking,
"What a nutty thing to do!”
Later I felt the satisfaction of
Destination reached, miles accomplished.
Riding is my focus these days.
Soaking up riding in this weather season,
In this life season.
While old "tapes" tell me I'm being selfish,
New tape says:
"OK to choose my own passionate pursuit."
Here’s what I notice is true:
I feel tired, but stronger.
Riding often helps me unburden,
Be more open to the moment,
Open to gratitude.
Sometimes,
I find myself during the miles.
Grateful to reconnect.
I send all best to each of you.
Hugs,
Lin
Limerick:
Riding can be mental therapy.Shifting an outlook that I can see.
Sometimes I will get,
With hard work and sweat,
Viewpoint expanding who I can be.
