Sanibel Island Day 2
Powerful, Pleasing, Choices!
Friday, March 8, 2019
Hello My Friends,
All my activity yesterday pointed out
MUSCLES: under-used or seldom-used.
Stiff, sore, with some awake hours last night.
By morning, I could unfold from bed,
Slowly ready to be part of the day.
Reminder that passions require regular practice!
Today's biking was longer (and slower).
Twenty miles spaced out with really good stops.
Public Library and then Food.
No better choices than those for resting and fueling.
Practical choices to make passions really work.
Sanibel's public library is stunning
With beautiful displays of seashells,
Lots of bike parking stalls,
Attractive lighting,
Helpful staff,
Spacious books areas,
Jigsaw puzzles that can be checked out.
Gift of free and wonderful entertainment!
Today Sanibel Island is buzzing with LOTS & LOTS of visitors.
82nd Annual "Sanibel Shell Festival" on March 7,8,9
Very Important event for folks.
Shells on display, for sale, just as they are, or
Made into art objects.
We did not go to the festival.
Made our way around the crowds,
Crossed street with help of police direction.
It's sort of like the traffic direction that takes place for
St Olaf Christmas concert... only with
Green grass and seashells instead of music and snow.
People gathering with excitement and delight.
Early lunch was at Blue Giraffe Cafe.
Good food and nice waiter, Joey.
Joey had gone to school in Bloomington, IN for seven years.
(Where two of my grandchildren grew up)
For now, Sanibel is his location of choice.
He models the power we have to choose.
Saying “yes” to pleasing choices is so powerful!
Joey, interested listener to account of
Grandson Earnie Bruce and I riding Northfield MN to Bloomington IN
Bob as our SAG.
Ten years ago now, Earnie?
Returned home by slowly riding around Island to avoid crowds,
Because we could,
And because we were getting tired.
Twenty miles of riding today.
Yippee!
Bob spotted an alligator
Quietly laying in water with just eyeballs visible.
We told each other that only people
With no pets and no kids,
Could live by that lake.
But we all have our own “alligators”
Lying in wait—teaching us caution and courage.
Later this evening, we'll go
Sit on a beach and watch the sunset.
Funny, sunset can be seen from most any beach.
Yet seems that there are just a few places
Where many people gather
To watch sun get pulled into the sea.
Sending big hugs to each of you.
May you, too, make powerful. Pleasing choices!

Limerick:
A good place to go is Library,
For there you are welcome to tarry.
You wander and read,
Find out what you need,
Check out with the books you can carry!
