Recalibrate, Recommit

Wednesday, April 12th, 2023

Where do you need encouragement?

I have a Negative test!
Now officially on road for Covid-recovery.
It’s been only a few days,
And here’s what I’m learning—for me.

Since I am seldom sick,
My expectation is that sickness is
A Bug or short term Condition
That wipes me out until I recover.

Then—I’m back!
Back where I was before
With stamina, strength, zest
As I expect them to be.

Not the case this time.

I’m needing to recalibrate.
Not assume things are the same,
Give myself more latitude in each day.

Nurture my mind-set
That encourages me forward
One-little bit-at-a-time.
Move forward from where I am.
As in biking—this time, in healing.

I think it is important for me
To be gentle, to give myself time,
To know effort is worthwhile,
To focus on how
I can say “yes” to where I am now.

How can I support
My own need for small “bits”.
Holding to them in increments
That match my personal readiness?

My first time back to pedaling—
Today’s 15 min on stationary bike
Felt like significant achievement.
Hooray for those tiring 15 minutes.

I picture
Keeping at the
Opportunities to regain
Stamina, strength, zest
Even when it seems pointless.

Personal stamina, important.
Maybe even more critical—
Personal zest.

Who knew?
Another application for
One-a-day-at-a-time, and
Recommit.

Hugs.
Lin

Limerick:

While you’re on the road to improving,
You may find you’re very slow-moving.
I’ll tell you, my Friend,
Since you’re on the mend,
Hang in there! You soon will be “grooving.”

Glad to hear that you are starting to recover. I like your philosophy and glad you will take it easy and gradually build up your stamina.
