Day 19 Empire State Trail Ride

Learning what you don’t want
Powerful part of choosing what you DO want.

Fast food breakfast to feed many quickly.
"Tim Horton's,” new-to-me chain.

Getting out to beat heat as much as possible.
Prompting that early breakfast source.

Hope, who is my roommate,
Stuck with me for all pre-lunch riding.
Kept me on track, never lost.
Wonderful.

I rode in van after lunch.
Good choice, made even better—
Nancy and I stopped for post-lunch ice cream!

Mountain biking has never been on my list—
"Things to Be Sure to Do” list.
No ... and now, I'm sure.

Lehigh Valley Trail, worst trail so far, for me.
3.5miles, mostly single-track,
Dirt, mud in spots, washed-out sections,
Due to much rain this summer.
Biting little insects prompting
Quick pedaling.

Hope told me of Scottish camp counselor,
"Wee Beasties" was name for those
Little, biting insects.
Great naming, I'd say.

Beautiful ride. I walked two hills. I'm here!

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:

When riding an unpleasant trail,
So rough that you wish you could bail,
Sit hard on the seat,
And pedal your feet.
You'll get to the end without fail.
