Philosophizing From Bike Seat

50 mile day: Starting from Rosebud Casino, SD
Elevation: 2,724

Friday, September 6, 2019

Hello Friends,

I rode 50 miles today!
Longest day I've ridden for about a year.

I'm pleased,
I'm tired,
I'm aware I'm older than last times crossing these states.

Started morning riding from Rosebud Casino,
Our overnight spot.
We are staying here another night.
Not exactly a rest day, but specially
Bob is glad to have a day without loading & unloading car.

Optimum ride conditions this morning,
No wind, cool temp, wide & clean road shoulder.

Bob looped back to motel,
I continued on out Hwy 20,
Soon SAG was back on road & SAG duty.

Fifty miles today to no particular destination.
Rode to accomplish miles,
With best of conditions.

I was thinking about no destination—
Just counting miles.
I can cover miles and arrive back
Where I started.

It’s like an "off-bike real-world" day.
I can cover lots of tasks (miles)
And arrive back where I started.
A circle for the day.

If I want my end point to be different,
I need to figure what must differ,
And make a plan.

Circle route is okay,
Gives me chances to look again,
Notice more & differently,
Appreciate more.
To take advantage of the things I missed
Another time 'round the circle.

Lots of good and valid ways to take one's life path.
Lines and circles together
Weave most interesting patterns.
Sometimes patterns we'd not planned,
Still give rich texture & variation to
Fabric that is us.

Well ... you can tell that
Long hours pedaling gives me
Long hours to create

"Philosophy from seat of bicycle.”

Thanks for you good nature and patience.

Hugs to all,
Lin

High Trestle Bridge on Cowboy Trail; I did not ride this section; uncomfortably high for me!

We rode together this morning--so nice!

I love this adventure you’re on. These wide, lonely and windy places. Nothing ordinary about this, woman–you go. (And so does your SAG wagon buddy…)

It makes me smile to know you are loving my adventure, too! Thank you for “coming along,” Ruth!

Thank you for your philosophizing Lin. I like to think of the two of you taking your time through the countryside and small towns. I enjoy all of your posts, they are a nice start to my day!

Hi Lin and Bruce,

I just wanted to say thank you for being you. I love reading my regular emails from you and this week was brilliant.

Meeting you at the eWomenNetwork conference was just brilliant, all I can say Lin, I want my 3rd Act in life to be just like yours.

Doing what you love, with passion and purpose.

Bron xx

Bron, how inspiring, thank you! My greatest wish is to leave a legacy of permission for women, both young and old, to say “yes!” to their passion and purpose. May it be so for all of us! So glad to have met you as well, Lin
