More Than Okay

Wednesday, October 17, 2024

I’m out for a wonderful-ride day,
A beautiful pedal-and-glide day.
It really is swell
When all’s going well.
A happiness-potion applied-day.

Are you okay?

Happy outcome for my
Commitment to riding outside as long as possible,
I have had pleasant, satisfying
Outdoor time on my bike.

Wonderful biking days this week.
Out early—well, not too early,
Since I wait a bit for air to warm up.

The relearning of “Layering” takes
Different trial configurations,
Until one that is “just right”.
Of course, the “just right” is
Specific to that day.

Actually did a ride with nameable destination.
I biked to Faribault, a town south of Northfield.
Lovely 17 mile pedal to meet
Bob at “First of Thai.”
Our favorite Thai food restaurant …
And Best we think from our sampling.

I was reminded how wonderful
Biking is for experiencing a day.
Temperature, terrain, views, colors.

How are you best experiencing your days?

Yes, the autumn colors are here.
Reminding me that
Seasons show up on their time-line,
Not according to my expectations.

On this morning’s ride,
I stopped to take a picture.
Fumbling to take off full-finger gloves—
(Because cell-phone surface isn’t responsive to the knit),
Line of three cyclists showed up behind me.
Three 40-ish guys, strong-looking, confident on bikes,
First one asked “Are you okay”?

As each one passed, I said,
“Yes, I am okay. Thanks.”

It is true,
On that ride and beyond,
I am indeed okay.

How grateful I am to be
So much more than okay!

Hugs,
Lin

Susan Drubin - October 17, 2024

Hi Lin, I write silly little poems about my bike rides so my friend and biking buddy Susan Fullenbaum shared your poetry with me – – I am so glad she did! I will check in here periodically to see your writings and musings. Thank you for such lovely writing 🙂
