MN Mini-Tour: Day 10

Zumbrota to Northfield, MN: 39 miles

Friday, September 30, 2016

Hi Honeys!
We're home.

We've made the loop:
Out our garage and back to garage,
Three hundred forty-nine miles
According to Bob's odometer.

Bob said last night as we thought of
Today as last day of this ride—
"Sad it's the last day,
Glad it's the last day."

There has been some satisfying challenge
In being our own daily transportation.
It's required a bit of stretch,
And has been gratifying.

Local Zumbrota cafe had
Big pancakes,
And GF bread for toast
To start day.
Nice.

Wide shoulder for five miles,
Then careful riding and
Careful drivers.

Early lunch in Kenyon,
Where we spent first night out.
Definitely on way to completing loop.

Kenyon takes the title of
"MN's Rose City" with roses in street median.
Some still blooming into Fall,
Fragrant and beautiful.
They were lovely part of day.

Ten days ago in Kenyon,
Farmer from Kellogg, MN
With pickup selling produce on corner.
Saw him, truck, produce
Again in Caledonia,
Again in Preston,
Today in Kenyon.

He is stereotype
Norwegian bachelor farmer.
We've greeted him each place.

Trees around park in Nerstrand
Showing color change.
Let us know we have been away.

Our trip was too early for autumn color.
We will see that other places,
Other ways.

This journey—
Not so big,
Not so far,
And just right for us together now.
Lucky folks.

Hugs to each,
Lin

P.S. I'll probably check in tomorrow. Surely I'll think of a couple of items I want to share.

Lunch-stop in Kenyon: Salad and chocolate milk.

Look who's back in town!

Celebrating with a squeeze from my Main Squeeze.

Home again after 350 miles in 10 days.

Huge pancake for breakfast in Zumbrota! Yum!

Loading bikes after breakfast

Kenyon is the Rose City, even on the last day of September!

Our reappearing Norwegian Bachelor Farmer!

Warmer in Wanamingo—time to shed a layer.

Leaves just starting to turn at Nerstrand Park

Well-equipped Nerstrand Park—while biking, Porta-potties are a welcome sight!

We made it!

You made it! You did it!
What a grand ten days to wit

Each day was a challenge,
Weather, roads, food,
Together you did it!

So glad it is over,
Now you can plan
For more in the future.

Stay home when the snow flies
Home where it is warm and safe,
Stay home where the love lies,
Comforted with loving arms always.

Congratulations! You do inspire us all
Can’t wait for Santa to bring me a bike
But then he may know best . . .
So I don’t fall into the creek!

Oh, dear! Well . . . it really has been a great ride!
Love you two!
Bev
