Miles and Miles of Bike Trail

Back on the Willard Munger Trail

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Hello My Friends,

Ride today
Hinckley -> Moose Lake for lunch -> back to Sturgeon Lake Motel.
That was
43 miles after wandering, a little looking
In tiny towns.

Hot! by time we got to our
"Digs" for tonight.

First milepost sign out of Hinckley said "76" for our morning start point.
That means there are
76 miles of trail leading there!
Oh, Ho!

I haven't found them yet,
Sounds like interesting possibility.
It did mean that milepost signs
Had BIG numbers marking our journey.

Trail paralleled hwy 61
Yet was away from road enough
Felt like riding thru woods and fields.
Maybe ten miles of our ride
Ran within sound of road.
Great way to travel in Northern Minnesota.

Good midmorning rest stop was
Willow River with picnic table tops
For nap sites.

Lunch included excellent blueberry pie.
All those tasty little blueberries visible,
Rather than globbed in thickening agent.
Oh the potential joys,
Of itinerant pie-sampling!

All well with us.
Tomorrow we make U-turn on trail,
Head back to car parked in Hinckley.

Sending love to each of you,

Hugs, Lin

Great Spot for a real rest

Bob finds a great place to rest

Start of today's ride: mailing a letter in Hinckley to granddaughter Tigerlilly, away    at college overseas.

Here we go on Willard Munger Trail again

Pausing for view of Moose Lake Inlet after 35 miles

Loading panniers, high-viz on left side for visibility on road

Not our mileage. Fun to know trail is that long!
