Life Crossings
Brewster to Nyack, NY: Rode all 43 miles!
Day 8 of Empire State Bike Trail Ride
Monday, August 9, 2021
Making your way at Life's Crossings.
My highlight of this HOT day?
Definitely was pedaling over Hudson River,
On Cuomo Bridge, for pedestrians & bicycles.
Three & half miles of special lanes.
Well-designed addition to existing bridge
Allows cyclists & walkers to
Safely, leisurely get across river,
While separated from 8 lanes of roaring traffic.
I hope to find postcards with picture,
Because in addition to providing safe travel,
Bridge is visually graceful.
Cuomo Bridge crossing was late in day;
Nancy & I rode over it together.
On to our motel for two nights.
Tomorrow is REST day.
All of us are very ready for that.
Most challenging moments of morning:
Getting across highway in front of Heidi's motel.
Much, much traffic coming up rise
From both sides.
Everybody vigilant, careful.
All safe.
Twenty-three miles were on two connecting
Bike trails, always appreciated.
These took more careful looking
Where roads crossed the trail.
In my area of MN,
Roads that cross bike trails
Come from small residential areas or farms.
Seldom any traffic there.
Different today.
Whether your Life Crossing is Busy or Pastoral,
Look for Bridges, and
Make your way with care.
Safe crossings!
Hugs,
Lin
Limerick:
Biking from Tarrytown to Nyack,
An experience on which I'll look back,
Remember the ride,
With traffic beside.
