Lake Michigan Ride—Day 18

Manitowoc—Random Lake, WI: 52 miles

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Today I rode Fifty Two miles! like everybody else.
I followed Nancy all day.
Nancy is person who has set routes,
Knows exactly where to go.
Perfect.

"I'm really a Whiz,
At this bicycle Biz,
If somebody else does the guiding!"

Because Random Lake is so small,
Not much for tourist touring,

Bare bone motel.
We were encouraged to
Take Our Time getting here.
We did.

A reminder to enjoy life: each day.

Stopped for bakery,
Stopped for tailgate lunch,
Checked out two consignment stores (what? on bike trip?)
Viewed landscape.

At "C" store stop, Buy coffee, use bathroom,
Young male clerk asked
"How old are you?"
Seventy nine, probably older than your grandmother.
"My grandmother is 74."
(His eyes widened as he thought)
Learned that he is here from Nepal,
Where rest of family remains.

I remember in China,
Being asked about my age.
It is about honoring life experience
Different than U.S.

We will be driven some distance to find dinner.
Tomorrow is last day of riding,
Last day of trip.

Sending hugs to each of you,
Lin

Of course you don’t look 79!!! I would say 60 at the most with a 25 years old mind!
I gather your knee stopped talking to you. Great! 51 miles is quite an achievement. Hugs.
