Lake Michigan Ride—Day 17

Green Bay—Manitowoc, WI: 52 miles
(I rode 57... read on for "why!")

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

I rode 57 miles.

Have you noticed these days
When I have been bicycling entire day's mileage,
That I have more miles than route sheet?

It's not that I'm striving
To add miles, like Stan.

It is that I get lost.

I do get “found.”
Yesterday a police car stopped,
Asked
"Are you lost?"
Gave me directions I needed.

Many days, John catches up,
After helping load truck.
I listen to his directions from route sheet.

Today, thank goodness for cell phones.
I called asking if I had missed Cnty W.
Yes.
Backtrack for mileage addition,
To Cnty W turn where John
Had posted self so I didn't miss again.

We can laugh and roll eyes!

This is different from when I started doing bike rides.
I am realizing I just don't notice detail.
In home life, Bob often mentions
Something I've missed completely.

I need to be sure I have some system
To stay on track in my life.

Arranged helpers,
Expanded notes,
Other.

This is not what I want to acknowledge to myself,
(Or you).

Best to have what's needed to keep
Playing activities I like.

Ride today was good.
Trails, both paved and crushed limestone,
Gave lengthy no-traffic stretches.

Grey sky, cool temps, not much wind.
Lovely play day.

Lucky me,
Lin

Limerick:

In thinking of miles I am riding,
How often the next turn is hiding,
I really don't mind,
Some helping to find,
The way down a road with some guiding.

Barrel lodging. So cute! Alsmost like a hobbit house...
