Lake Michigan Ride—Day 1
Milwaukee to Muskegon: 10 miles
Sunday, June 3, 2018
What? Ten miles???
Yes, that is our ride distance for today.
Final packing this morning pre-breakfast.
Destination down street same for all.
We gathered, ate and talked our way into morning.
Luggage dropped at SAG vehicle,
Room keys returned,
Now underway to ferry terminal on Lake Michigan.
I rode with Nancy.
Nancy and Ken organize, manage, run these trips.
Since Nancy had written route sheet,
Perfect person to get me through turns & twists to destination.
We boarded "fast ferry" to Muskegon.
Just two and half hour crossing.
Fun to watch cars, motorcycles
Guided into lanes, bumper to bumper,
Spaced by two inches!
First time for me being cyclist
Walking on ferry with bike,
Hooking bike to side by cars,
Lashing with straps to keep upright.
Memories of (our) Bruce family,
Living in Juneau Alaska,
Arriving by ferry, using ferry for other travel,
Watching skilled choreography of docking.
Ropes thrown, secured, mooring vessel.
Once off ferry,
Lovely bike path for three miles to motel.
Perfect ride for starting to soak in Lake views.
Happy day of starting the journey.
I am reaching out,
Feeling more a part of adventure.
We ALL are forming this new group.
Lucky me.
Hugs to each,
Lin
