Home from Root River Trail

Preston to Lanesboro and back: 14 miles

Sunday, October 7, 2018

Today's mileage: 14 miles ridden.

We’re back in Northfield,
After trip that was fun!

It is hard on my ego to add up miles ridden.
Sixty-three or four,
Total for our days of biking
.

Motivation for this trip:
Get to bike,
Have fun,
Spend time together.
Did all of that ... very successful outing
.

Today we rode from Preston toward Lanesboro & back.
I like that trail.
Temp was at 46 degrees with drizzle.
Enough waterproof clothing & warm layers,
Comfortable biking.

I may put some research into covering
For keeping fingers warmer.

Still, what I used for layers worked.

Racked up our bikes,
Changed clothes in Preston trailhead restrooms.

Drove home in rain.
So lucky that our rides were
Grey skies, mid-forties temps, drizzle,
Not real rain while on trail.

I have laundry sorted and sloshing in washer,
Sure sign that I am home.

Thanks for being along.
Absolutely great to have your reading-vibes as support.

Hugs to each,
Lin

Thanks, Lin, for taking us along on your fall bike trip. I imagine the mist and rain intensified the autumn colors. Other than that, my hat/bike helmet off to you for sticking with the cold, wet conditions and finding the beauty and joy in them. You two are RUGGED!

Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon we sat outdoors on Monument Hill in the Carleton Arb to watch a hilarious performance of the Mixed Precipitation’s whacky version of the operetta Falstaff with, as they say, some Bruce Springsteen thrown in. “Dr. Falstaff and the Working Wives of Lake County, a picnic operetta” told the story of the mining industry and dumping of tailings into Lake Superior. Great fun, even as it was misty and 46 degrees. Kind of like your bike trip!

Thanks.

What a wonderful account of your entertaining afternoon! You had to be even more rugged to sit still for hours! At least we were moving! Hope you had plenty of warmies. Thanks so much for the message. 🙂
