2016 Summer Bike Plans

Hi my friends,

Here’s what’s coming for me on my bicycle this summer!

I’m ramping up, training for this year’s bike adventures, during which you’ll be hearing from me regularly. My “reports” will come to your inbox—no need to sign up again.

Adventure #1: Northfield, MN to Cheyenne Wyoming

I will leave Northfield on June 24—I am determined to get to my 60th high school reunion (August 5 & 6th) under my own bicycle power! Bob has offered to be SAG, which is a huge and generous gift; he will support my ride with water, food, finding lodging, and being along the route if I need help.

Adventure #2: “Tour de Wyoming”

When I arrive in Wyoming, I will join niece Elizabeth Williams for the “Tour de Wyoming,” the state bicycle ride July 17—22.  This year’s ride is a loop through the Big Horn Mountains: 355 miles in 6 days, with a jaw-dropping elevation map. There are 350 riders on that, who have gotten in via lottery.

Current Preparations

Much is on the docket.  Last week Bob and I rode our own three day MN bike ride from our condominium to sections of the Sakatah Bike Trail for a 129 mile loop.  We rode about forty miles each day, some rain, some weariness, and a good time.  Such a privilege to get to ride.

It’s Super-Biking-Beak!

Beak-nose Lin 1

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No…

You will see from pictures above that I have added a new piece of gear.  It is called a Beko Nose protector, and it does just that, protect my nose from the hours of sun.  I’ve ridden with Ear Pops since I started in 1999; they keep the wind out of my ears and save me from earache.  The large sunglasses fit over my prescription glasses.  All in all, it is bizarre get-up; guess I get to do that as an Old Lady!
I’m excited and delighted to be starting out again.  Read along with me if you would like—I think of friends during the hours of a ride, that means you.

Big Hugs, Lin

P.S. If you have someone you want to come along through the ease of their in-box, invite them to sign on here, at www.yesithinkican.com—sharing their name and e-mail adds them to this year’s adventures, and they’ll get last year’s 10-day Alaska Golden Circle Bike Adventure in their inbox as a bonus for joining me.
