Hard Decision
Foregoing East Coast Ride (for now)
Photo: Finish Line of TransAmerica Ride in 2000: what a thrill to have completed 4,000+ consecutive miles! Great memory.

Hello My Friends,
I've withdrawn from East Coast bike trip,
Planned for this Fall.
Oh, So Hard!
Long trips like the TransAm Ride,
Pictured above, have been among
My most satisfying experiences.
Riding the eastern side of U.S.
Has been on my dream list
For a long time.
Decision, of course, comes from
Concerns about COVID-19 virus.
Precautions long distance riders will need.
Pedaling is just part of any bike trip.
There is lodging, food, interactions,
Companionship,
Tourist sites along the way.
All go into a ride.
All are affected at this time.
I am not afraid.
Wisdom points me to forego this ride.
I tell audiences to notice:
"What is possible, rather than what is not.”
"What part of the dream can you do?"
"What has a similar flavor?"
As I'm still grieving loss of this dream,
Those points ring hollow for now.
I'm sad.
Eventually, I'll come up with
Plan.
Set mileage goal.
Plan short bike trail trips.
Many possibilities,
Once I move my mind in that direction.
I am healthy, as is Bob.
His step-through-bike & healed hip,
We get to bike together.
Sending wishes for your good health, patience, optimism.
Hugs,
Lin
P.S. A wise person reminded me of this:
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." (—Seneca.)
I continue to train; I'll be ready for the fresh opportunity!
