Finding Variety

Sparks Midst Stasis

Wednesday, July 29, 2020

Hello my friend,

When I stop to notice—
Much variation in a week.

Days can start long.
Then "zip,” the week has whizzed past.

Up moments, down stretches,
Make me appreciate options.
Knowing "doing" is worthwhile.

Varying our biking route,
Town spur of trail into Red Wing,
Put us beside Mississippi River.
I am awed
.

Having grown up on high plains,
Mississippi River was only in books.
Wyoming is long way from real thing.

Now I ride beside that river!
Midst noise of river commerce,
Next to silent movement of water.

Pretty cool!
Who knew I'd have the chance.

Biking in many locations,
Enriches my life.
Of course, great places by car.
Still views, places, destinations by bike,
Keep expanding my sense of possibility.

Lucky me.
Where are you riding that surprises you?

Hugs to you,
Lin

Nice commentary, Lin. Love the contrast between then and now, from high plains to heartland. Lots of beauty to drink in on both ends of that spectrum!
