Earth-friendly Shift
Wednesday, March 26, 2025
To pass on an item for reuse,
You think very broadly to deduce—
A place that's a match.
Then call with dispatch,
Combination: convince and seduce.
How do you shift “stuff?”
One task that goes with resettling
Household after death of an occupant—
Sorting, retaining, distributing belongings.
A “shift” beyond my 5 shifts!
What items are to stay?
Legal docs, favorite pictures?
Mementos from special events?
Best swim goggles, awesome snowboard?
Tools, clothing?
We all own these
In small or larger amounts.
How to address belongings
When no longer needed?
This household is Very Dedicated to
Recycle, Reuse, and Find a Use for items.
Earth-friendly shifts.
Back in the "70's,"
Bob and I had young children when
Earth Day first came on the scene.
Tenants of that earth-committed time
Were drilled into our household actions.
We see it being carried out at this time,
In this home, with decisions that come after a death.
Finding the "places,” doing the tasks,
Ways Bob and I are helping.

Around tasks, beauty lifts our spirits. Clockwise from upper left: Spring colors unfolding, Wonderful bare branch color, Neighborhood color, Wow color pop.
Do you know that I am a good networker?
Turns out, it is very relevant right now.
I look up possibilities for recycle / reuse,
Call to get particulars...
"Can you use?"
"Do you accept?"
If answer is "no,”
It's on to a different search.
This process is much, much slower than
Big dumpster in driveway.
It is just right for this household's values,
And is a match for Ty,
Whose belongings are going,
As much as possible,
To just right places.
How we "do" our lives,
Shows up in unexpected ways.
Hugs,
Lin
