Day 2 WY to MN Ride

45 mile day: Starting in Alliance, Nebraska
Elevation 3, 967 feet

Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019

Hello Friends,

Dropping Elevation!
Summit between Laramie and Cheyenne: 8,640 ft
Pine Bluffs, Wyoming: 5,049 ft
Alliance, Nebraska: 3,967 ft

Yes, I am losing altitude.
Different than riding downhill, please understand.
Today had hills, up & down,
Swoops & climbs through ranch & farmland.

Flexibility was KEY again today.
Morning wind of 15 to 20 mph,
Changed how we did ride planned.

Drove 45 miles in direction that gave me
Tailwind.
Strong Tailwind.
What a great way to ride.
What a privilege to have SAG support that
Gives me that advantage!

Plagued once again by question,
“Did those miles count since I had
Individual-crafted support and position?”

My thoughts came to
“Is this another part of Asking For Help?”
Asking for help is a big learning point for many of us.
Grew-up thinking we had to handle things ourselves.

Changing that ingrained message,
Takes Trust .

Learning to accept help that is offered ...
Is another learning point.

Personal SAG support offers me help
Every day.
Lucky me to get to accept that,
Fly down the road with wind at back,
And know that those miles pedaled
Are real.

Tonight we are in tiny, retro motel,
Rushville, Nebraska.
Has running water, hot and cold,
Bed, refrig, electric lights, coffee pot for morning,
All that we really need.
No cell connection, means no pictures sent for today.

Biking felt good,
Forty-five miles pleases me.
I'm liking this trip.

Hugs to each of you,
Lin

Limerick:

My SAG makes my biking quite easy,
Es-pe-cially when it is breezy.
With wind at my back,
I pedal and stack
Miles earned even though "easy-peasy!”

Hi Lin – 1. Loved the motel description in Rushviille! All we need. 2. And your trip reminds me very much of my Lake District walk. The plan from the company was more ambitious than I could handle and I, too, found myself figuring how I could make each day possible – sometimes asking B&B hosts to give me a “head start.” Or catching a bus to final destination in the late afternoon. Sometimes walking on the road rather than across the pastures. 😁 I have to say that I walked *parts of* the Cumbria Way, rather than “I walked the Cumbria Way.” Then, like you, I focused on all the happy of the parts I did walk- the beautiful blooming gorse (reminding me of Winnie the Pooh), the gamboling lambs, the friendly heifers, historic relics. Such a richness!! So glad you have Bob for support. Thanks for your posts.

Love the parallel, Naurine, of “Asking for Help,” and the delightful images of your journey. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
