Choosing My Perspective
Day 8: Mankato to Madison Ride
Sunday, May 26, 2024
The day isn't what you expected—
The time seems adversely affected.
Expanding your view,
Of what you could do,
Reveals things as "wisely selected.”
How do you change / choose your perspective?
Clockwise from upper left: Lacrosse street...so wet & rainy. How's this for regional special : "Morel and Leek burger." Seven bikers as passengers in auxiliary van.
Ken loading/ shoehorning items into van.
Morning: Rain
Forecast for all-day-rain.
We are to be van-shuttled down the Mississippi River.
No riding.
All for the best, I know.
Involves waiting until 11:00 a.m. departure.
Usual operational mode:
Up and dress,
Gather and stow all bits and pieces,
Ready to get on bike and ride...
Usually by 8:30am.
Waiting is Challenging for me.
(Oh, I think I told you that a few days ago.)
I'm getting another chance to practice.
Breathe.
Rearrange this,
Rethink that,
Dig out book,
Appreciate creative re-formatting ,
Reframing the day.
Clockwise from upper left: John removing item from bike storage room. Unloading into Boscobelotel lobby. Udder brothers creamery, Boscobel, WI. Sign's message—Good idea!
Afternoon:
Here in Boscobel, WI motel.
Snug, dry, van ride,
Efficient and fine.
Once fog lifted,
Viewing Mississippi River from car,
Was scenic and lovely.
Unloading our group and stuff from van ...
Entertainment for other motel guests.
With 8 or 9 people tromping back and forth,
Depositing suitcases, bags, coolers, occasional bikes,
All over motel floor.
Day is turning out well,
Despite my early fussing.
Note to self:
"Patience is a virtue,
Aspire to that."
Hugs,
Lin
Bonus Limerick:
The Condiment Cow has four udders
None producing milk to make butters.
Ranch and Barbeque,
Ketchup, Mustard too.
The Thing gives a dairy-man "shudders!”
