My reading’s expanding my learning,
And ramped up my interest and yearning.
If that dream is true,
The thing I could do,
Is let “planning-wheels” start their turning.
The day we put in was a hard one.
Our internal voices screamed “Not Fun!”
Hang in through the day,
While making your way.
With real satisfaction t’ward outcome.
I’m out on my bike as I’m “homing”,
To see what I’ll see as I’m roaming.
Could be something new,
Or something that grew,
While I was away in Wyoming.
Bob & my trip west,
Visiting dear friends & treasured uncle.
Covered many miles,
Frequently “touched the heart”,
Put us midst dramatic scenery.
My “settle-in-salve” is connection,
With folks for whom I feel affection.
Wherever I roam,
My heart feels at home,
With shared time from loving direction.
Hard work that you share is connecting.
Though sometimes you feel like objecting.
What you’ve gotten done,
Though not always fun,
Gets you to the goal you’re expecting.
My portion of this ride has ended.
The time that I’ve shared has been blended
With Hills and with Heat.
With good folks to meet.
My mem-or-ies will be quite splendid.
With things feeling heavy & funky.
An outlook that’s all dark & gunky.
A giggle or two,
Will help you renew,
A viewpoint that’s lighter & spunky.
What’s true about riding in the heat,
It drains you and leaves you really beat,
It pays to hydrate,
Then you tolerate,
The miles without facing your defeat.
I rode all 60.5 miles today.
At times today, I thought
Best thing about the day would be
Getting to end point.
Recommitting was required, over and over.
Those times when the wind’s really blowing,
It can help you get where you’re going.
Small direction change,
Can make things quite strange,
Wind’s no longer helping, it’s slowing.
