60th Reunion Ride: Day 3
Wisdom to Luverne, MN: 60 miles
Most unusual day! Two parts—and fun!
June 26, 2016
Morning 36 mile ride West into wind,
Late afternoon 24 mile ride headed East.
Early hour leaving Windom,
Beautiful.
Delightful cool temp with small breeze.
Ride was on newly rebuilt Hwy 62..
If ever you are riding across MN,
Go via 62, only 25 miles of easy surface.
In Fulda MN, native told me
"62 is best road in state."
Could be true.
Fulda, stop for midmorning food
Was "small world" spot.
Two diners having friends & relatives in Northfield.
Eleven miles beyond,
Head wind increased to make ride hard.
Call in SAG!
Rack up bike.
Make next task finding night's lodging.
Luverne had options.
Early check in allowed home packed lunch in room,
Augmented with milk shake.
Then a NAP !!
Ultimate luxury; lying down nap in midst of bike day!
This is the Pampered Bicycle Life.
Out midafternoon to play.
Flying (wind at the back) on light traffic roads,
Riding with ease.
Making up miles lost through sagging / car riding today.
Afternoon ride took me to
Acres of huge wind turbines spinning,
Producing power.
Sculptural.
I was in Buffalo Ridge area,
Highest producers of wind powerIn state of MN.
No surprise that I flew!
Good day today.
I am very lucky.
Hugs,
Lin
P.S. "Racking up" means putting bike on rack on back of car.
