One-thousand-mile goal for this summer! Today, rode final 19 miles.
August 5 to September 28 was span for these miles.
As I biked toward Bob,
Completing last few feet of this journey, Bob said,
“Congratulations on 500 ‘unusually-collected’ miles!”

Wonderful discovery! After yesterday’s riding intensity, Today has been low-key, Pleasant.
Seventy miles!
Last time I rode 70 miles in one day,
I was much younger.
Here’s how it came to be…
Rain as we crawled out of bed,
Continued most of day.
High wind from south.
Road shoulders taken over with “rumble bars.”
Today’s ride crossed Missouri River.
Approaching one of tributary valleys, Swooping, 8% grade downhill. Fast downhill NOT my favorite. Descended at record SLOW speed. Hooray for excellent disc brakes.
Within half mile, Realized what had seemed Too difficult, was manageable. Sometimes being in midst of situation, Lets one know what it is really like. Different than viewed from the window.
